1990 Computer Security

This video was posted on Gizmodo which is a Computer Security video produced by AT&T (perhaps for inside use back then?) that depicts how ‘Hackers’ gained access to their networks via modem based access points and physical security. The funny thing is that most of the information depicted in this video is still true today (in regard to points of companies being compromised such as Physical Security of access via outside the network). It also depicts as to why these things were occurring then – implementation of technologies for communication but a central data center or security implementations were not set into place as these networks grew into world wide commodities. This is still the reason behind so many data breaches occurring today. It’s funny how after 22 years we still haven’t figured these things out, and also how these aspects also apply to out networking and technologies used today. I’m not one to complain, however, since this is my future career path (people say the security industry will die out eventually but I don’t believe it).
